Tutor Payment Policies
By registering to be listed as a tutor on IvyWhiz SmartLearning ("the Website", "Site", "IvyWhizSmartLearning.com"), you (“Tutor”) agree that the following terms and conditions will govern all payments made to you by students through the IvyWhiz SmartLearning system.
Conditions for Guaranteeing Receipt of Payment for Student Lessons
IvyWhiz SmartLearning is a marketplace for those seeking tutoring services to connect with tutors. IvyWhiz provides a service to distribute payments collected from students to tutors. However, if any of the following conditions are not met and IvyWhiz is unable to collect your payment from the student (or their parent/guardian), IvyWhiz cannot guarantee that your payment will be successfully collected, processed, and distributed:
- The information pertaining to the lesson is accurate, including the start and end time, duration, subject, and student account name. Unless otherwise agreed, these times reflect the actual tutoring session.
- Prior to each lesson, the student must have on file with IvyWhiz a valid form of payment (credit/debit card, PayPal, or a positive balance of prepaid tutoring credit). You may view the student’s payment status through your IvyWhiz account.
- The lesson is delivered either in-person at a mutually agreed location or through the IvyWhiz online tool. If the lesson is delivered remotely via another medium (e.g., email, telephone, Skype) or if you perform asynchronous work (such as proofreading), you must obtain written confirmation from the student that outlines the nature, expected time, and cost of the work.
- Your services must be instructive and constitute genuine learning, not cheating. You shall not complete assignments, write papers, take quizzes, or perform any work on behalf of the student, nor violate any academic honesty or conduct policies.
- You must enter the lesson into the IvyWhiz system or assess a cancellation fee within fourteen (14) days of the lesson. Submissions later than fourteen (14) days after the lesson will not be accepted.
- Prior to a lesson, you must receive subject approval from IvyWhiz for the specific subject area.
- You may not collect or request payment directly from the student by cash, check, or any other means.
- For cancellation fees assessed to a student, the penalty must be consistent with the cancellation policy communicated to the student and displayed on your profile. All lesson cancellations are subject to the standard 9% service fee.
- You must be over 18 years old and eligible to work in the United States.
Timing and Delivery of Payments
- Tutors will receive their payment by Direct Deposit. Once you enter accurate bank account and routing numbers, funds will be released to your bank on the 1st and 15th of each month (or on the next business day if these dates fall on a weekend or holiday). To be included in a disbursement cycle, a lesson must be submitted at least 5 days before the payment date. The time between fund release by IvyWhiz and availability in your bank is determined by your bank. If a direct deposit is returned, you must correct your bank information, and the returned funds will be resent within 5 days.
- For tutors who opt for Express Direct Deposit, funds will be released to your bank account 5 days after lesson submission. If the 5th day falls on a weekend or bank holiday, funds will be released on the next business day.
Social Security Number Requirement
- If cumulative payments exceed $50, you must submit a valid Social Security Number ("SSN") to IvyWhiz. Until your SSN is received, payments will be withheld and released with the next scheduled payment.
- Alternatively, you may use an Employer Identification Number ("EIN") issued by the IRS for payment reporting purposes only. To do so, complete and submit IRS Form W-9 to IvyWhiz.
Calculation of Tutor Payment Amounts
- You set your own hourly rate and may change it at any time. Students who contacted you within three months prior to a rate change will continue to be charged the original rate unless a rate change request is acknowledged.
- All tutors agree to a flat 30% Platform Fee. This fee applies to lessons submitted on or after the effective date, meaning 70% of your submitted hourly rate will be distributed to you.
In addition, if a tutor is inactive on the platform for a period of 45 days, IvyWhiz will automatically deactivate the account. The tutor may request reactivation at a later time, and IvyWhiz, in its sole discretion, may choose to reactivate or permanently suspend the account.
